The 2023 Skate Australia Rink Hockey Club Championships wrapped up on Saturday in Kwinana, West Australia following six days of competition.
Rink Hockey clubs from around the country came together to compete at the Championships, with a guest team from Karnal, India also joining the competition this year.
Kwinana based Scorpions Rink Hockey Club achieved great success in the younger age groups, taking out both the Under 10s and 12s divisions. Queensland clubs dominated the remaining divisions with Mackay Rink Hockey Club crowned the U16 Champions, while Stafford Rink Hockey Club claimed both the Men’s and Women’s titles.
Stephen Hoey, Rink Hockey Club Championship Director and representative of Skate Australia Rink Hockey Technical Committee, said the event was a great success.
“The 2023 Australia Club Championships was a great opportunity for players to compete against other clubs from other states,” he said.
“All players were able to measure their fitness and skills against similar-age athletes. The teams really enjoyed the event as it gave everyone an opportunity to connect, play the sport they love and enjoy Perth’s sunshine.
“It was a very positive atmosphere on and off the rink, with multiple development clinics for junior and senior players throughout the week.
“The Championship provided motivation for all players and officials to improve and compete in future events, we can’t wait for the next one.”
