Skate Australia is pleased to announce the Artistic Skating team selected for the World Skate Games to be held across Italy from 6 to 22 September 2024.
Seven athletes will represent Australia in five Artistic disciplines including Senior Ladies Freeskating, Senior Ladies Solo Dance, Junior Men Freeskating, Junior Ladies Solo Dance and Junior Quartet Pra Angeli
The Artistic athletes join 160 Australian athletes announced earlier this year across disciplines including Men’s and Women’s Inline Hockey, Roller Derby, Scootering, Rink Hockey and Skateboarding.
Athletes representing the Green and Gold include, Shakira McCoy-Travers, Jessalyn Brown, Thomas Sparks, Georgia Hammond, Sophia Garufo, Kya Michal-Bax and Kalani Mackenzie.
Junior Ladies Solo Dance and Pra Angeli quartet team member, Georgia Hammond said she was proud to have made the World Skate Games Australian team.
“Words can’t describe how over the moon I am to be chosen to represent Australia,” said Hammond.
“It is truly an honour and I hope to make Australia proud.”
Skate Australia’s Artistic Skating National Technical Committee Chair Pam Young said she was thrilled for athletes to participate in the competition.
“We are thrilled to announce the selection of our seven athletes heading to the 2024 World Skate Games.
“The World Skate Games is a fantastic opportunity and experience, on behalf of the Artistic community I wish them all the very best with their preparations and competition.”
Additional teams and athletes who will represent Australia in the remaining disciplines at the World Skate Games will be announced in due course.
