Palmer wins X Games Gold in Chiba

Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Keegan Palmer won his first ever X Games medal on the weekend, with gold in the Men’s Skateboard Park in Chiba, Japan.

Due to sever weather conditions at ZOZOMarine Stadium, Saturday's finals had to be cancelled, which meant Friday's elimination results served as the final competition results for the Men's Skateboard Park, Women's Skateboard Park and Women's Skateboard Street competitions.

Palmer’s first trick-filled run on Friday scored 83.66, included the best 540 of the competition, and easily earned him the top spot.

He was joined on the podium by USA’s Cory Juneau in silver (79.66) and Gavin Bottger in bronze (78.00).

Australia’s Kieran Woolley placed sixth in the Men’s Park with a top score of 75.66. Keefer Wilson also represented Australia, placing 16th.

In the women’s event, Arisa Trew narrowly missed out on a podium in Friday's Park Elimination, placing 4th with a score of 70.00, just 2 points off a podium finish.

World Championships silver medalist Chloe Covell also narrowly missed out on a podium, placing fourth in the Women’s Street event with a top score of 78.33. Tokyo 2020 Olympian Haylie Powell also had a strong performance, placing 10th in the Women's Street.
