Skate Australia staff update

Following Skate Australia’s best Olympic campaign to date, with Australian athletes bringing home two gold medals, Skate Australia is undergoing changes and updates as we look towards the LA2028 Olympic Games.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Caitlin Honey has made the decision to step down from SA. In addition, at the conclusion of her contract in December 2024, High Performance Manager Debbie Savage departed Skate Australia after having spearheaded a highly successful Olympic campaign.

The Skate Australia Board Chair Dr Phll Hamdorf thanked Dr Honey and Ms Savage for their devoted service to the organisation and leading Skate Australia through its best ever Olympic cycle and World Skate Games successes in the non-Olympic sports.

As we now move into the first phase of the four-year LA28 cycle Skate Australia will take this time to ensure continuity and future success and initiate an open recruitment process to permanently fill the CEO and the newly revised HP Director roles as soon as possible.

To support us in this transition, renowned Australian high performance sport consultant Alison Campbell has been appointed as interim CEO while Andrew Collins has been appointed (part-time) to provide leadership to the Skateboarding High-Performance Program.

Alison joins Skate Australia after working with the Australian Institute of Sport on a range of projects including Australia’s Win Well 2032+ High Performance Strategy and the Paralympic Uplift.

With experience working across organisations including Athletics Australia, the Australian Institute of Sport and Paralympics Australia, she brings a wealth of strategic sport knowledge to the role.

Andrew, an experienced high-performance leader with a strong record of accomplishment in developing people, delivering performance and operating effectively in complex sporting environments, will join Alison in leading Skate Australia’s high-performance program over the coming months.

During the transition period, Skate Australia is committed to continuing the work that has already commenced to review Skate Australia's internal policies, procedures, reporting structures, workplace culture, and employee perspectives.

The Skate Australia Board is committed to achieving our strategic objectives. This transitional period provides us with an opportunity to ensure we have the right leadership for the future, so that we can deliver exceptional outcomes and take advantage of our status as one of Australia’s fastest growing sports.
