Skate Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim McGrath to its Board of Directors.
Tim’s election at this week’s Annual General Meeting came after the term of Alexandra Ash had concluded and come up for re-election.
McGrath has 15 years of experience leading development and growth in local, state and national sporting organisations. He currently holds a leadership role at Tennis Victoria where he has contributed to the development of a new membership model, best practice governance and overall growth. At Athletics NSW he significantly increased participation and at Little Athletics Australia he was instrumental in the development of the Athletics Play program.
Tim will further complement the Board’s current skillset in governance, strategic planning and implementation, risk management and engagement.
Skate Australia President, Karen Doyle, said she was thrilled to welcome McGrath to the Board.
“The inclusion of Tim on the Skate Australia Board will further enable our sports to move forward with best practice corporate governance and the delivery of the new strategy in 2022 as he brings a wealth of experience in this area.
“I also wish to acknowledge the services of Alexandra Ash who stepped onto the Board a year ago. She has been a valuable contributor to our sports and we thank her for the time, energy and commitment she has shown. As a senior leader at YMCA Victoria we look forward to continuing our strong partnership.”
McGrath is looking forward to bringing his skills to the Skate Australia Board.
“Following the success of the Australian Olympic skateboarding team in Tokyo, I’m thrilled to join to the Board,” he said.
“Skate Australia will be undertaking widespread engagement with skaters across the nation next year to understand the needs of its community and build a new strategic plan. With the spike in skating and skateboarding during lockdowns and its reputation as one of Australia’s most inclusive group of sports, there are some fantastic opportunities for Skate. I’m looking forward to contributing to a strong and professional organisation over the coming years.”
